| 14 | GARDENING - The Mixed Border Through the Seasons at Raven’s Cry Theatre, Sechelt, 1:30 PM. Intelligent, witty plant hunter Daniel Hinkley puts the pieces together for a fine 12-month garden. Hinkley is among the handful of botanists visiting remote areas of the world collecting seeds, notes and photos of rare plants, studying them in cultivation. This is an exercise in conservation, as many of these areas will be lost – behind dams, under crops or other developments. Often the only specimens left are on the steepest hills and cliffs. A plant hunter is an adventurer. Dan has introduced many plants into cultivation, through Washington State’s Heronswood Nursery, until recently owned and operated by Dan and his partner, architect Robert Jones. It’s finally here! The Roberts Creek History Project will be launching an exhibit of old and new photos, stories, and artifacts at the Roberts Creek Hall from November 7-9. Come out and peruse photos that have been graciously contributed by people in your community! Read about what makes Roberts Creek tick, what makes it unique, what brought and brings people here, how things have changed and are changing. This is YOUR community Roberts Creek – come learn more about it, and be proud of the place you call home!
The exhibit open house schedule is as follows:
Friday November 7th the exhibit will be open from 6pm till late – wine and cheese party!
Randeesh will be sharing his fabulous reggae music from 8pm
Saturday November 8th The exhibit will be open from 10am till 6pm, COMMUNITY POTLUCK starts @ 6pm – come one come all, bring your favourite dish to share, anyone and everyone welcome! (yes, this is a kids friendly event)
Also on Saturday Berni G will host a singalong from 2-3pm – come and enjoy her fabulous voice and piano playing, and join in too!
Ken Dalgleish will serenade folks on the piano from 5-7pm on Saturday as they wander the display and get ready for the potluck.
Sunday November 9th the exhibit will be open from 10am-4pm
The Sunshine Coast’s own Coast String Fiddlers will perform at 2pm on Sunday.
Trish Thompson will be selling delicious food Saturday and Sunday all day.
There will be speakers/guided discussions throughout the weekend.
Also on display (and for sale) will be RE-printings of the book "Remembering Roberts Creek,” the drawings and books of Terry Barker, Ryan White's DVD on the Mandala story, Berni G’s brand new CD, Angie McCauley’s music, Jacqueline Gore’s photography, and more!
