So often with Spring cleaning one finds items that are for the most part useless, but so old they must be worth something. Invariably the article is put back into storage until the following year when the process is started all over again.
There is a group helping combat the storage of trash by identifying what is of value and what really should go someplace else; The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives will be having their 7th Annual Antique Roadshow. Although most members of the organization have great experience sifting through relics to find real history, they will be bringing in a specialist to give a more specific monetary appraisal of items. The fee for appraisal is $10 for one item, $15 for two, and $20 for three items, and the grandmaster of the tag-spotting is Ted Pappas, a skilled appraiser from West Coast Estate Auctions.
This year’s event will take place at the Gibsons Legion at 747 Gibsons Way from 10:30AM to 4PM. People are expected to travel there from all up and down the coast, so if the trails of dust from ancient Slinkies or Neolithic pet-rocks is too drying on the throat, there are also refreshments available at this event.
