Originally conceived by Roberts Creek mixed media artist Eric Allen Montgomery, the A.C.E. (Art Craft Excellence) Exhibition & Sale of work by contemporary and alternative artists who didn’t “fit the mold” of traditional craft shows was a hit in Vancouver back in 2003. This summer Montgomery has brought the A.C.E. on the Coast show to Sechelt’s Seaside Centre August 12th through 14th, coinciding with the Festival of the Written Arts.
“Contemporary Craft, Decorative Art, Functional Design, and Creative Living. This has been the motto of the A.C.E. show since its inception,” says Montgomery. “With the move to the Coast, I’ve expanded the A.C.E. concept to include several high caliber local artists whose work reflects the more traditional influences that are in keeping with many coastal lifestyles. While much of the A.C.E. look is still best described as Urban Hip, the city influence isn’t the only one making waves here.”
