Nathan Michael Marcuzzi is one of the Sunshine Coast’s best-kept secrets, but not for long. As a performing singer, songwriter and recording artist, Marcuzzi’s talent reminds one of a young Bob Dylan. His personality, however, is more like the Dalai Lama with a guitar. This long, lean, dark, young man’s music will capture the heart of anyone who listens.
At 26, Marcuzzi already has a dozen years experience under his belt. He moved from Ontario to British Columbia at the age of 14 and it was the isolation and confusion of leaving much of his family and all of his friends that drove him to pick up his sister’s old, beat-up, classical guitar. He had no one to talk to about the emotional angst the move and his age created, so in an effort to express himself, he began to play and write lyrics.
Within a month, without a single lesson, he was writing songs. Once he’d created enough material, he started playing at local cafés and it was there he realized his music had an affect on people and wasn’t just for himself, but for others as well. So began his musical career, he’s been writing and working ever since.
All of Marcuzzi’s work is personal because he writes from his heart. Whether he’s singing about a love lost or the warmongering and materialism of today’s society, his music will touch the listener’s heart because it has been written from his. It is this connectedness to his own heart and emotions that allows Marcuzzi to affect the audience in his rare and intimate way.

He is a deeply spiritual young man and picking up the guitar was part of getting spiritual. Connecting the mind and heart to write great songs started him on his spiritual path and the progression of his musical career and spiritual growth has been intertwined since the beginning. This is why his music has been described as “songs for the soul”.
Ultimately, compassion is what motivates him and it is also the driving force behind his work. As well as making music that others enjoy, he hopes his songs will allow people to feel something, and when they feel enough, his hope is they will begin to act, making small changes in their own lives. In this way, he would like his music to have social influence.
Marcuzzi released his first album, “Freedom Is On Your Side”, in 2006 and is working on his second album, “These Things”, to be released later this year. He has done most of the promotion and marketing of his work until now, but with the success of “Freedom Is On Your Side” he’s realized he needs a Label or Agent to take care of some of the business of his career, so he can focus on what he does best – writing, performing and recording great songs.
