Game’s afoot with Mystery Scavenger Hunt
Teams of mystery fans are lining up at the Sechelt Library to register for the 3rd Annual L.R. Wright
Scavenger Hunt, to be held September 10.
The three-hour hunt scours the Coast to find locations described in the novels of the late L.R. “Bunny”
Wright, and collect tokens from Friends of the Library volunteers at each site. However, since Wright “took liberties with
the geography of the area,” finding the described location can be a real challenge.
This year’s hunt locations are found in Wright’s novels Sleep While I Sing (set mostly in Sechelt) and
her last book, Menace (set in Gibsons).

Publishers have donated books for prizes, and a scrumptious snack rewards participants and volunteers.
(In past years, this has included smoked salmon donated by Target Marine.)
Registration fees are $15 per team of 2, or $20 for a 3-person squad. This year, the Bank of Montreal’s
lineup is challenging the Royal Bank (and any other financial institution that cares to field a crew.)
Sign up at the Sechelt Public Library. Out-of-towners may e-mail Dorothy Fraser at
dotogo@dccnet.com to reserve a space, request an assignment to a team, or get more
information. As Fraser says, “This event is not a heavy-brainer thing – it’s meant to be a fun way introduce people to our
community and to L.R. Wright’s novels, which are also fun. And all funds raised are for the library.”
